I always thought success meant collecting degrees and achievements, but it left me deeply unhappy and out of alignment.

For almost 10 years, I was chasing external success:

✨ I studied neuroscience, landed an internship in Boston, and graduated cum laude with big dreams of making an impact in science.

✨ I secured my first research job in Maastricht and climbed my way up to a PhD, combining neuroscience and AI to create predictive models for Alzheimer’s disease.

From the outside, it looked like I was 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔. But inside, I was stuck in cycles of 𝑓𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡/𝑓𝑙𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡, 𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓-𝑑𝑜𝑢𝑏𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔. When my supervisors asked if I truly wanted to pursue a PhD, I broke down in tears during a Zoom call (yep, this really happened and it was só embarrassing!)

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐤𝐞-𝐮𝐩 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥: 𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥 🖤

A few years later, breathwork became the tool that helped me reconnect with myself. It taught me how to quiet the noise in my mind, calm my nervous system, and finally lead from a place of alignment — not fear.
